Multi-platform support per test project?

Postby roxio » Tue Jan 26, 2010 1:31 am

Will it be possible to have multiple platform criteria in a single test project?

For instance my company would need to create platform permutations on both OS and Language.

Right now it looks like I can use platforms for either one, or the other.

Could you point me to any documentation on how platforms will implemented? Perhaps even the files that have changed and any schema update to allow it? Perhaps we could reuse what you did and build it in.

Thanks!

IMHO there is no solution that fits our implementation
give a look to a combination of platforms + customs fields, or paltforms + keywords

When I wrote this I didn't realize that assigned platforms could be done on a per test PLAN basis. My assumption was they were per test PROJECT.

My solution in case any one else has this requirement:

1. Setup OS and Language requirements as platforms
2. Setup a test plan for your OS coverage
3. Setup a seperate test plan for your localization testing
4. Assign the OS platforms to your OS coverage testplan and your language platforms to your localization test plan
5. Assign platforms to test cases as usual

The only thing left for us to do is to setup the proper report that will link across both plans.
