Import CSV file with carriage return inside the fields

Postby dlagadec » Tue Jun 20, 2006 7:02 am

Hello

I am new user of test link. I want to replace an old test tool using MS Access by testlink. To do that, I need to transfer the base from access to testlink.

I use the csv file for the tranfer. With comma to the separate the fileds and \\\\\\\' as delimeter for the text.

The test description and summary are often written on many lines. During the import, the carriage return (paragraph mark) are considered as the beginning of a new test even if it is included between two \\\\\\\' delimiter.

Example of csv file:
\\\\\\\'Component1\\\\\\\',Cat1\\\\\\\',\\\\\\\'Tc 1\\\\\\\', \\\\\\\'Summary: more than one line with the paragraph
mark inside\\\\\\\', \\\\\\\'Steps: more than one line with the paragraph
mark inside\\\\\\\', \\\\\\\'Expected Result: more than one line with the paragraph
mark inside\\\\\\\'

I want to obtain:
COM: Component1
CAT: Cat1
TC: Tc 1

Summary (on two lines):
Summary: more than one line with the paragraph
mark inside

Steps (on two lines):
Steps: more than one line with the paragraph
mark inside

Expected Result (on two lines):
Expected Result: more than one line with the paragraph
mark inside

----------------------------------------
The result obtained is:

debugCOMP:\\\\\\\'Component1\\\\\\\'
debugCAT:Cat1\\\\\\\'
debugCOMP:mark inside\\\\\\\'
debugCAT: \\\\\\\'Steps: more than one line with the paragraph
debugCOMP:mark inside\\\\\\\'
debugCAT: \\\\\\\'Expected Result: more than one line with the paragraph
debugCOMP:mark inside\\\\\\\'
debugCAT:
resd Import CVS data
Check Import Data

Note: TestLink has no way to determine that the data being imported already exists.
Therefore, if the data that is being imported already exists you will have two copies.

COM: \\\\\\\'Component1\\\\\\\'
CAT: Cat1\\\\\\\'
TC: Tc 1
COM: mark inside\\\\\\\'
CAT: \\\\\\\'Steps: more than one line with the paragraph
TC:
TC:
TC:

Thanks in advance for comments/ideas
