Test Project > Edit Test Cases > missing left frame

Postby m.jerome » Thu Jan 08, 2009 9:14 am

OS: RHEL Server 5.2
Testlink 1.7.4

Steps:
1. installed testlink
2. imported mysql database from old server
3. select the offending test project from drop down menu
4. click edit test case(s)

results:
-left frame that contains navbar for all the test cases is missing;
-view source on the frame displays blank also

-the old server is still running and the cases are displayed properly

NOTE: this test project houses the largest amount of test cases from our old server about 13000 cases.

any suggestions is greatly appreciated...

only 1 related to testlink:

[error] File does not exist: ~/testlink/javascript, referer: ~/teslink/lib/general/show_help.php?help=editTc&locale=en_US

which doesn't look like it relates to the problem;

thanks for the reply... do you have other suggestions on where to look for the cause/fix.

thanks again!

Hmmm, strange. In the most of cases it's permission problem if page is missing. But your case seems different.
Try to remove/modify custom_config if used. Change used component for tree (parameter $g_tree_type).
You can also display Smarty debug window to see if parameters have correct values (http://www.smarty.net/manual/en/chapter.debugging.console.php)
Smarty class:
Code: Select all
var $debugging       =  true;

tried different tree types and looks like i am getting some error related to running out of memory:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 46 bytes) in /opt/lampp/htdocs/testlink/lib/functions/tree.class.php on line 495

also enabled debugging and the "Smarty Debug Console_treeframe" never shows up for this project;

this is what shows up (partial) on projects that are working:
included templates & config files (load time in seconds):
tcTree.tpl (0.00369) (total)
inc_head.tpl (0.00094)
inc_jsTree.tpl (0.00023)

it might be trying to call these files but it is running out of memory due to the large size of the project (~13000 cases)?

Ok. So, "ext" tree menu component (asynchronous) is appropriate solution for you. This kind is available in 1.8 version. I recommend you to migrate because of your higher amount of TCs.
It could be time limit for loading html data. I'm not sure if this one is setting on client side or server side.
Try to extend max_execution_time (you can also extend memory_limit) in php.ini.

increasing the memory_limit in the php.ini did the trick.

it was set to 8M and now i increased it to 24M

thanks for all the help!
