1.8 RC5 - Test Cases version control - How to?

Postby callum » Wed Mar 11, 2009 8:49 pm

hi,
I am really interested in the version control of 1.8, as our test cases are always evolving.
I am importing these into a Test Suite, Called TS1000
Inside this test Suite are 4 test Cases, 1, 2, 3 and 4

The tester makes an improvement to Test Case 4 through the .xml file
and when i go back to the Test Suite folder, choose "Import Test Cases", I select my xml file(with the update to the one test case), and choose in "Action for duplicated names " the option for "Update data on latest version"

I get an error stating "Wrong xml Test Case File".

If i select Import Test Suite option, i dont get an option to update the data, the point of my version control. Instead i get a duplicate entry and when I try to report the results from this, i get incorrect returns - either only for the new test suite, or for two, distinct TS1000.

The .pdf does not seem to show how to do this,

Thanks

I may have answered my own question.
It was the way the .xml file was being saved, it had the tags for test suite, thats why it barfed all the time,
some gentle manipulation of the .xml file to be alike the section 9.4 of docs and it worked insofar as it overwrote the existing Test Case with my updated tests/editing.

Hope this helps anyone else out there,
