Hi all,
I just installed TestLink 1.9.3 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. I used Wampserver 2.2.
I would like my users to use their domain credentials to access TestLink rather than adding them to the DB by hand one by one.
Could you please let me know which file do I have to edit in order to enable this type of authentication?
Thanks in advance,
AOS

Re: Problem with authentication
1. your post title is wrong: Problem means that something declaring to be ok is not working, and this is not your situation.
2. Unfortunately you use MS terminology: domain users, without explaing where is the user repository.
There are several posts on forum (you have to search) regarding the several authentication modes that can be used: two standard
users and password on TL DB, user on TL DB passwords in a DIrectory like OpenLDAP or Active Directory

I will try to help better
You need to create each user in TL, the TL can authenticate users agains your AD via LDAP.

Hi Gunnar,
Thanks for your help; I have to mention that there is an older version of TestLink installed here at the company. Version 1.7.4. This machine was built 5 years ago and the person who built it did not document anything. It is still working for us, Once I log in as administrator, and I check the user administration account settings, I notice that it says that the password management is external, meaning that the users authenticate against the Windows domain. The other machine that I built with TestLink 1.9.3 does not have this setting enabled. I enabled the php_ldap extension and edited the custom_config.inc.php file as well, but I still can't get my users to authenticate against the domain. That is why I believe that there is a problem with my current configuration.
Thannk you,

I'm very interesed in understand what is the key information that has been provided by GunnarD answer and that make the answer
the better help.
Very interesting is also that no pointer to other posts on foruma has been provided, no config example, etc, but quality of help is better.
lastest user post confirm that subject is wrong (may be is time to read some articles on the net about how an issue/post has to be done
in order to be effective), because issue seems to be a CONFIGURATION problem that is a little bit different.
See no mention to thinks like:
. I've searched on forum and found nothing that help me
. I've read user manual and I've found nothing
. I've read config file and found no hints
the better help.

3esi: Do you have change the authenticate method to LDAP in custom_config.inc.php?
fman: It's better to try to answer a question than complaining about title is wrong.
In this case 3esi writes that he/she want to user their "domain credentials", that tells me that they want to use AD accounts so i give a hint to create local accounts and configure LDAP för authentication.
Code: Select all
$tlCfg->authentication['method'] = 'LDAP';

I suppose you think your are the cowboy with the white hat or the good cop.
And seems you are able to read only the part of posts that you like, because you did not answer to may questions about the
quality of your best help.
Please save lessons like
' ... that tells me that they want to use AD ... '
Because If you are able to read carefully this:
There are several posts on forum (you have to search) regarding the several authentication modes that can be used: two standard
users and password on TL DB, user on TL DB passwords in a DIrectory like OpenLDAP or Active Directory
You can see that the info was there clear.
I've provided the needed help => indication of how authentication is managed.
If people is too lazy to open a file and read it, or do a search then maybe is time to open a section 'I'm too lazy to try by myself'.
I do not like you approach, you do not like mine.
Enough time wasted => topic locked
