Looking for TestLink OverView/Top View/Paradigm

Post by MarkO »

I have not been able to locate the TestLink Setup Overview.

What Testing Paradigm is TestLink based on? Does it replace a Paper Based system, or is it developed from "Scratch". Is there any Books or Sites that cover the TestLink Paradigm.

Creating "Products" were easy enough, but where do "components", "categories" and "test cases" fit in?? Are "test cases" one of the "containers" like "components" and "categories"

The "Glossary of terms used in TestLink" is nice but a little more "Concept" would be helpful, or at least someplace to look for it...

A "tool" like TestLink seems like just what I need, but I am not sure how to move my paper based Testing System to it.

As a "weak example", You give "a Person" a Hammer, Some Nails, Some Screwdrivers, and Some Screws. Then show them hitting the Nail with the Hammer, and driving in to some Wood. When "the Person" gets to the Screwdriver and Screws, are they "automatically" going to Chose the Screwdriver that fits the Screw and try to turn the screw in, or the Wrong Screwdriver for the Screw and STIL try to turn the screw in, or are they going to use the Screws like Nails with the Hammer, since Hammering Nails is the Only reference they have been given by you..
Screws are much Superior to Nails, especially if you want to Assemble and Dis-Assemble the given item many times, but if you don't know how Screws are suppose to work, they are just Real Difficult Nails, and seem less suitable that the Real Nails.

Thank You for any Guidance...

There is simple overview at the start of User manual (see for example: http://www.teamst.org/_tldoc/1.7/user_manual.pdf).
Let me know via this post or message, if anything is not clear. i will update it and resend. Ok?
