Can someone clarify the Upgrade directions for 1.7.4 -> 1

I've been through the upgrade directions in the latest version of the TestLink manual, and I still have a few questions before I proceed. First, some background about our setup:

Testlink 1.7.4 is installed is a place like:

.../www/html/testlink

Upgrade instructions say to do the pre-install steps first.

The pre-install instructions say to un-tar the tarball of 1.8_rc5 into the location where I'd like to install testlink, and then to rename the resulting directory to something like 'testlink'.

The first problem I have here is that the tarball un-tars into a directory called 'testlink'. If I did that in the above path, I'd end up with a 1.7.4 testlink install, with another install contained in the 'testlink/testlink_release_rep' directory. Is this expected behavior? If so, then is there a need to rename anything for an upgrade?

Secondly, after following the directions in the install/index.php page, I get to a point where the db upgrade fails due to the fact that the config_db.ini.php can not be located. Have I done something in the wrong order? Obviously the db config exists in the top level 'testlink' directory, but not the freshly added '../testlink_release_rep/' directory.

I need some clarification about the initial steps of the upgrade process. I have a large production DB, and may users who rely on testlink, and I want to get this right on the first try.

Install new version on a new dir with name you want this is not a problem.
