Downloading previously attached xls is corrupt

Post by tomcdixon »

I am trying to download excel (xls or xlsx) files that have previously been attached to a test suite in the test specification view, typically they contain test data. When I download the file all I get is unintelligible binary data. I am trying to open the file by either clicking directly on the file icon to open the file in a new browser tab, or right clicking to "save link as". The file attachement is something like "/testlinksite/lib/attachments/attachmentdownload.php?id=6". I have tried renaming the file extension to various other file types but all I get is binary data.

Is trying to download and open an attachment a supported action (I am guessing it is)? If so how should I go about opeing an excel file to read it is a valid excel file? Or has anybody else seen this issue and has it been logged as a bug in the big tracking db (I could not find anything myself)?

Edit: I got our admin team to retrieve one of the files from the mysql database and it opens fine, so the files are not corrupted, which would infer either a problem with how we have installed TestLink or a bug in Test link.

Env details:
Testlink 1.9.3
Win 7 OS
Browser Firefox 18, Chrome 24.
MySQL 5.?

Thanks

Well seeing as nobody has any bright ideas I will raise it as a bug over on Mantis when I get time.

Hi tomcdixon,
Do you solved the inconvenient?
Thanks.
