[SOLVED] TL 1.9.6: TC Exec. - TC filtering inconsistencies

Post by jsteinbach »

Hi there,

I created a tesplan and assigned some TC to testers.
When I open the 'TC execution' the following selections produce inconsistent results:

TC assigned to any: 750
TC assigned to nobody: 721
TC assigned to somebody: 658
TC assigned to a spedific person: 629 (independent of the person)

What may be the problem?

Thanks for your help,
Joerg.

1. Before posting here or open an issue on mamtis is very important to
check forum and mantis to understand if a similar post/ issue has been reported.
2. Is also important to check if a newer version exists.
3. Providing a simple reproducible test case to test an scenario
similar to yours is a must. (you have to provide detailed step by step
to reproduce)

I checked the forum and mantis rudimentarily and found nothing helpful. May be I overlooked something.
I checked for newer versions. There is 1.9.7. But didn't found a hint for changes concerning my problem.
I could not reproduce the problem in a smaller environment but have some more observations:
The result in the execution assignment view is as expected. any = nobody + somebody / numbers of results of specific users corrspond to view 'testcases assigned to me'.
Only the number of results in the view 'execute tests' does not fit.

Perhaps someone has an idea what to check more.
Especially the fact that view 'execute tests' works fine and 'execution assignment' not could be a hint for someone with more TL-experience than me.
Can versioning cause the problem? What are the differences between this two selections?

We recently updated from 1.7.1 to 1.9.6. Everything seems to work correctly.

Best regards,
Joerg.

as you understand knowing that your db is not a fresh install
but result of a migration from a very old version add new elements.
That's why is important the fact that you can or not
reproduce on a fresh install.
Problem can be on data.
Anyway is important that we make clear meaning of
special settings like nobody, somebody and any.

sorry, my problem description is not very precise

TL has two views with similar selection options:
- assign testcase execution
- execute tests
Both offer to filter testcases according to the field 'assigned to'.
Possible values are any, nobody, somebody or a specific user.
I assume that 'assign to' is in both cases the user, who should execute the testcase.

In the view 'assign testcase execution' the number of tc assigned to any are equal to the sum of testcases assigned to somebody and nobody - as it should be.
In the view 'execute testcases' the resulting numbers are different (as stated above) and I have no idea why.

What is the difference between theses selections? Perhaps this could be a hint for me to look for problems in the data.
