Document ID

Hello Everybody,

I have a question: I'm not sure what the purpose of the "Document ID" field is.
It looks like you have to create an unique number for every requirement. But why then do you have to create an ID for the requirements manually and for the testcases it is done automatically? Wouldn't it be more convenient to have an auto numbering for the requirements?

Testlink has not (yet?) the goal to fully manage requirements. It has only a feature to import requirements from another tool and link with test cases, so ID are defined by the requirements management tool.

However I suggest to be able to choose between auto-numering and manual.

Has anything changed since this original thread has been created? I'd like document IDs to be generated automatically in the same way testlink already does in the test specification part. That would be really handy as we type requirements directly in to Testlink and don't import them.
