Test Link is creating test cases with Duplicate TC Number

Here are steps, how the defect can be re-produced

1. I have imported Test cases from Excel Sheet. The number was up to 61 I guess.
2. While reading test cases , I realized that it’s better to club few cases. So I did so and deleted unwanted cases.
3. Now I am adding new cases for defects reported
4. Duplicates!!!

Is there any way to edit Test Case number Manually?

How to avoid such problem in future?
