Type and Status of Requirements not available

I am using Testlink 1.9 (beta 6) and so far am very impressed... but...

When creating or editing requirement specifications, the drop-down list for selecting "Type" is empty. After saving the Req Spec, on the viewing panel it says "Type : system message: type not configured".

Similarly, when creating or editing requirements under a specification, the "Status" and "Type" drop-down lists are empty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
