How to attach files to test results using XML RPC

I am trying to upload a log file to a test result in test link. I could locate the XML RPC call which is uploadExecutionAttachment. But I am not sure how to use this call. How do I obtain the execution id required to call this API?
Also when I am manually viewing a test case result in TestLink, I do not see any place for attachments in test reports. Do I need to change something in the configuration file for the attachment field to be present in the test reports?
I have been using xml RPCs for TestLink for a while.
Pease help.
