Unwanted charcaters - TC export from TestLink 1.9.2

I exported a testcase (xml from TestLink 1.9.2), saved as xml file. Opened new Excel (2003) sheet and XML imported the saved file to excel. I see many columns, some with original data and others with unwanted characters (including version, node-order etc). How to overcome this issue? I recommended testlink and started using recently.

I request developers to look into this and help us to resolve. I followed the steps in the user manual.
