Updating test execution result at test step level for Test l

Hi,
We have started using test link in our organization and found that its very useful and providing a lot of features.

But at the same we found it would be much helpful for us if we add status and a couple of other fields at test step level.That means if i have status at a test step level and if a test case have 10 steps,if my testing failed at step 5 then i will update test step 5 as fail and stop updating further steps 6,7 etc.

I tried adding custom field but i could add at test case level.Is there any way of adding custom designed field at test step level? Can any one guide us?

custom fields can only be added to elements that you see on combo when using Create Custom Fields feature.
