Regarding Test Suite/Test Case Import with XSL vs XML

Post by Avadhut »

Hi,

I had started evaluting Testlink 1.9.3 from some time & found it really interesting. The most desired feature for me is to have the test cases from another repository to be imported in testlink or in other words a bulk import of test suite/ test cases. The idea currently is exporting them in a XLS format. So we can be a set of test cases ready with XLS.

I searched forum for importing the test cases & found that ONLY XML format is compatible for import. As per directions provided I tried the import process by converting the existing XLS to be saved as XML Data format but still getting the error message as "Cannot save or export xml data. the xml maps are not exportable".

Here I initially exported a test suite that I created manually, opened in XLS & later edited this by adding data to the columns. While saving this as XML Data I got above error. Can you please guide me or provide any references to resolve this as I need to do bulk import & have the repository in testlink to complete the entire life cycle.

I would also appreciate if there are any XLS templates available where I can put the data & directly save to XML Data form for import purpose. I also tried one macro but that was providing some error. Please do the needful.

Thanks in advance!

all info you need is already on TestLink, there are TWO XLS files that you can use to create your test cases and req and create the RIGHT XML formats, just do a search on your installation fro *.xls* files

Hi,

I have a question regarding the templated attached as ou had specified, in this template I could see the Test Case Details & Expected Results to be added for one test case in one cell. If we consider a case where we have a repository of test cases that are having multiple steps & we would like to have them exported. from some other source. For this case can you please advice how this can be handled? Would this require manual entry of series of rows of data in single row - Cell using ALT + ENTER combination ?

Thanks in advance...
