Assigning to multiple users

Post by tones »

Hi Folks

Have been giving TL a shot today and on the faceof it would say a good product that meets most of our needs. However, I either cannot get my head round or it doesn't exist: assigning to multiple users.

When testing a particular software build, we would define a test script/case and confirm that it works as expected for ALL users - I am not sure I understand the ethos of only assigning a test to one user.

Is it possible to do this in TL? The only way I could see was to make everyone Senior Testers, and leave cases unassigned. This did however not fit in well with reporting and would require an extra step for the tester to filter all tasks based on unassigned.

Any advice welcome, many thanks, T.

is not possible to assign to multiple users.
Normally when responsabiliy is fuzzy (i.e. a task has been assigned to more that one people) result is NOBODY do the task.

TL support only (as is done in Mantis just to give an example) assign a task (execute a test) just to one user.

We have no concept of group.

If you want :
1. add a feature request on Mantis. (this do not means we will implement it, just that we will consider it, and see if it fit in our idea of TL as product)

I was looking to do something very similar before. The best solution I found was to open the execution permissions so that even though the test is assigned to a specific user other users with execute permission can record results against a given test.

For your scenario the next step may be to create an account with a given groupname, which will have the test cases assigned to it. This will still require individual testers to sort by the that "group" name, but it will correct the reporting issue which you are experiencing. You will see who executed which test with what results, as well as coverage percentages per "group" assignment.

Anytime, you should still take fman's advice and submit a feature request. I doubt you're the only person looking for that.

Can anyone remind me how to assign a test case to a single user?

I have everything I need defined, (project, plan, suite, requirements, test case(s), builds, keywords, etc.) but cannot for the life of me find the screen that allows me to assign test cases to users.

I am the administrator of the TL, it is installed/hosted on my machine.
I have made few Users (Testers..)
now,if those users they are launchin this TL on thier machines they are able to see the login page..but when they give thier credentials ..it doesn't reflect any change or it doesn't go to the Index.php.

Can we access TL from so others machine....

I real time scenario this is what's gonna happen.

Let me know where i have to make a change in the setting.

Thanks & Regards
