Mantis integrated with TestLink!Want some more functionality

Post by Bairat »

Hi,

I found about TestLink from one of my office colleagues and decided to have a look at it first to find whether it can be used in our organisation. After having some initial problems with installing PHP 5.0, Apache 2.2 and MySQL 5.0, I was able to install and configure TestLink 1.7.4.

After installing TestLink I created some dummy Projects and Test Cases just for evaluation purpose I created some logins. I forwarded the login details with link to access the installed TestLink tool to my higher management and he was very happy to see the ease of use of the tool :D .

The next question from him was whether we can integrated it with Mantis (since Mantis is used over here for day-to-day logging of bugs and Customer Enhancements). I confirmed and started configuring Mantis with Testlink. Now Mantis (1.0.1) and TestLink are both configured and are working properly.

Now here comes my question.
When the Mantis report issue screen is opened through TestLink can we have the Summary and Test Steps from TestLink populated automatically in the Summary and Description boxes of the Mantis Report Issue screen????
Whether it can be configured to do so? If yes, can I know the .php filenames of TestLink and Mantis which needs to be tweaked to support this requirement so that I can give it a try and if yes can I post the solution over here so that it can be useful to many of the BTS users????

Thanks a lot...

Hello Bairat,
your enhancement make sense. I personally doesn't use this feature, but other do.
I suggest to add this feature request into our tracker. You can help to develop it if it's important for you. We like contribution rather than a feature requests only.

Hi havlatm,

Thanks for you reply. Actually I would definitely like to contribute to this thats why I didnt post this in tracker :D. Since I am new to PHP i just wanted to know the information of the TestLink and Mantis PHP files that communicate with each other when Mantis is called through TestLink. If I get this information it would be easy for me to concentrate only on these files. I would be glad if you or someone else from the TestLink team can give me these info?
