TL to JIRA, is this using JIRA's XMLRPC ?

Hello!

I have a TL1.7.5 installed on my local linux box with no problems, but I am not asking our company system admins, to install it 'officially' including the link to JIRA.

They have refused the JIRA link saying it is a direct link to the database and a security concern for them, they (big bad 'they') say that TL should use the JIRA XMLRPC

Is it, can it? help!?

we are using DB access to access JIRA
