Import Test Cases to 1.7.5

i am trying to import test cases from 1.7.5 when i do that the screen goes blank, as if nothing happened. I am not getting any error messages. Update tree shows that no test cases were imported. My XML file is correct as i am able to do the same in ,y 1.7.4 instance.

Please update to 1.8 version.

Are there any other solutions other than to upgrade to 1.8
I have been reading about this issue and tried these two solutions
- increasing the size of the XML import file
- installing the php_xml and php_xmlrc package

Doing the above did not make a difference

Please let me know if there is a solution other than to upgrade

Installing the two packages PHP_XML and PHP_xmlrc does work. Please do not forget to restart your apache server after installing these two packages.
