Hi,

Case I:
I am trying to import test cases from XLS -> XML and encountered below error message:

Cannot save or export XML data. The XML maps in this workbook are not exportable.

Steps followed:

1. Create few dummy test cases
2. Naviagated to test suite and exported test cases in to xml
3. Open new excel and imported dummy test cases from xml file and edited the test cases with "name", "summary", "precondition", "action" and "expected result"
4. Then tried to save as XML file and failing with the above error.

Case II:

Not rendering test cases complete data once imported from <filename>.xls

Steps followed (done as an experiment):
...Followed above 3 steps
4. tried to save as XLS file
5. open test suite and imported the test cases from XLS file created
6. test cases are importing successfully, however data is missing. "name" is showing in "summary" field, rest of the data is missing.

Surya

This is an EXCEL with XML not a TL issue
Create XML with correct format using a simple editor or xml edito

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Yes there was an issue with xml.xsd file. Was not matching #of columns of that expecting .xsd format.

Surya,
Please refer the help files and the sample files in the test link directories, You need to convert in a right way. Other wise it throws error. This is not testlink ISSUE.

Thanks for your help. The issue is resolved and i am able to imort test cases successfully max 540 at a time (of around 400KB file size).

I have one more query regarding "internalID", "externalID". From the help doc I found that internalID is generated by Testlink internally, but what is externalID?
While importing if I have duplicate internalID as well as externalID with in the XML file or from already existing test cases what would happen? Because there is only one parameter that we can check against either "name" or "internalID" or "externalID".

Surya

do not use a thread that stared with one scope to ask for other info is a very bad practice
