Release Date Status for TestLink 1.8

Post by mhayes »

Is there a release date planned for 1.8 (Other than sometime in May)?
Will there be any more beta releases or release candidates before then?

Thanks,
Mark

We plan to release beta 2 in the next days. It seems that the next step (RC1) will follow a month after.
It depends on fixing a few mandatory tasks (mainly documentation, test prioritization and role system in API).

This may sound like an odd question, but know it stems from chomping at the bit for a production ready release with API (thought's making me drool guys, not a pretty sight...). What are the testing needs/plans for TestLink 8?

Are there any existing test plans for the TCM?
Is there a place where we can go grab some of these and record/report results?

Is the TL testing maybe being tracked in a prior version of TL somewhere which users can contribute to as 'testers'?

I created the build but I disabled the package immediately as I find some problems. It was three weeks ago. So I cannot recommend to use this tag to get files.
I will public a new build ASAP. I'm sorry to be late.

What's the scoop with 1.8 Final?

Post by daveg »

Hi I'm new to TestLink and have found it very easy to get up and running.
Very cool stuff!

I played around with 1.7 but I really need the features in 1.8 like external API, automation Y/N, and the better searching capabilities.

So the burning question is... when will 1.8 be confirmed?

Do you predict any massive schema/structure changes that will render my current 1.8 setup incompatible? (this is the grand worry of using beta software right?) :)

I'm tempted to just go with 1.8 as it is, but might hold off IF some massive sweep of schema-thrashing bug fixes is about to hit. ...?

Thanks for the update and keep up the great work!

There are only minor changes in DB schema between 1.7 and 1.8. We do not expect any changes between beta2 and final release.
I'm far to forecast final release date, but I hope to have RC1 in one month. You can check progress in roadmap page of our tracker.
