Assign custom fields to some test cases

Is it possible to assign custom fields to a subset of test cases only?
I like to store additional information for some test cases in custom fields but don't want to these fields in all test cases.

I feel that if custom fields are not filled in for one test case, they do not appear in its description. So no need to disable them.

How can I add a custom field called "Test configuration" after "test objective or description" but before "test procedure".?

If you are wondering how to order custom fields at display, go to the home page, press on Assign custom fields. For each custom fields you can choose a display order. Give the number 1 to "Test Configuration", the 2 to your new CF and finally 3 for "test procedure". Press on "save display order" bottom to save the new order. Go to the specifications page, your CF might be well-ordered.

I have opened a topic regarding adding a new section called "Test Environment" after "Summary" and before"Steps". I even reported in bug tracker too. It was suggested I put any configuration and test environment details in summary section or in custom field.

Each suggestion has its own pros and cons.

CF does not have any editing feature not even like "Steps" and "Expected Result". Buthe good thing with using CF is that you can give it a label like "Test Environment" which make it clear to reader.

"Summary" section has editing feature so yo can have Bullet or numbering line, bkground/forground color and so on. The cons is that the summary is a very general name, which can be used for anything. In this case, it is used for both "Objective" of test and "Test Environment"

So I decided using "Sammary" of TEst-Suite or Test-Plan as a general test environment , and use CF of a test cases for any specific environment that is not included in general test environment.

I still believe a separate section for Test Environment with good editing feature after summary is the best solution.
