OpenOffice Calc 3.2 XML Import from TestLink generated file

I can export/import XML files to from TestLink 1.8.5 fine.

What I'd like to do is import the Testlink generated xml files into OpenOffice Calc. I have read about the XML filters of openoffice, but it looks like it covers older versions of openoffice and is code typing/time consuming.

I see a filter called "MS Excel 2003 XML" in the Tools -> XML Filter settings.., but I can't figure how to work it. I've scoured the openoffice.org docs as well and only keep on running to this old custom filter stuff. It looks like they may already be added to newer versions of OpenOffice, but I can't figure it out.

Any quick tips would be greatly appreciated! I think I have a case of user error since these should be automatic in Calc. I'm really hoping i don't have to build custom scripts for testlink generated files.
