Version Control for Test Cases/Plans

Post by nyik »

Is there any kind of version control or tracking for test cases and test plans? I'd like to be able track/see what changes were made to cases or plans.

If no current functionality exists, does anyone have a workaround for this? The only thing I can think of is for the person making the changes to add a revision comment to the description or notes section of the test plan/test case...

Should this be a feature in a future release?

You have version in the Test case level. I am not sure, how test plan version helps you. but i dont think we have test plan version or just write in breif what do you mean by test plan version.

Yes, there is versioning at the test case level. I think I need to clarify my question. What I was thinking of was at a test plan level, for example, where it would summarize that TCs 008, 010, 101 have been changed by user 'abc'. This would be very helpful to tell at a quick glance what test plans and test cases have been updated.

The one place that I can think of is in the events page via Audit, but that's more of a security feature than anything...

Thanks!!

I am not sure, i completely understood you, But i will tell u ho i am managing based on my convinence/ what ever.

See I have taken test plan for the whole official release, say now my product x is releases 1.6 and next version is 1.7 and there are multiple builds in 1.6 to 1.7 , but for us every build will be a release, this is how i track. and in case say i choose a test case 1 is mapped to test plan 1, and tc 1 of version 2 i can also map in tp2. and this can be tracked in individual test case lvl.

I think i have a solution, you can generate a ord document w r t to test plan.
your problem is solved
