confuse about two execution type(Automated/Manual)

hi, i am a newer of testlink1.8, we just setup testlink1.8.4 to our linux, but i has so confuse about the execution type, what is it use for? is it can be used for autotest? if so, how to make it work?

is used as a SIMPLE ATTRIBUTE, does not add any feature on TL, because TL is not able to run tests
