Test Report Import (*.XML) using own test-case Id

Post by NateAZ »

In review of the XML Test Result import documentation and in playing with the functionality I have seen how to use the internal database Id and the external Id of a test-case. However, I actually need to use the test-case Id that I have defined, as in the value that I enter as the test-case Id.

I have an external test tool with almost a 1000 test-scripts. The tool outputs a log file with the result of each test, the script filename is the key. The script filename is what I have defined as the test-case Id within TestLink.

I was wondering if there are any plans on making this feature available in a future release of TestLink? or such a way existed already?

At this point I am thinking that my only way forward is to directly query the database table to obtain my test-case Id and the internal database Id and use these in my conversion tool (converts the test-tool log file to an XML results file). Or any other suggestions?

Thank you.

Actually, to be clear... it is the "Test Case Title" field that I would like to import against. I realize that its not a keyed/unique field, even though I'm using it that way. Any suggestions? Thank you.
