We are using TestLink as the main engine that drives both our test case management and automation infrastructure. We have integrated our automation framework into Testlink so that we have the following functionality:

1. Test case documentation and automation scripts in one app
2. Selection of automated test cases for execution
3. Reporting of current/historical automation results
4. Scheduling of automation runs
5. Email notification of test results

By using Testlink, we were able to save a significant amount of money by building functionality equivalent to Test Director. Our automation framework is keyword driven so that the QA Engineers can immediately start scripting. In addition, we are using Squish as our automation tool of choice since it is OS platform, language, and browser independent. The beauty of our framework is that we only need a single Dev and a single runtime license for our entire team which saves us even more money and increases productivity!! We really love Testlink!!!

That's interesting! :D How do you integrate your automation framework with TestLink? Can we get some details on that? Which automation tool do you use?
Regards,
Prem

Thanks for the report! That's indeed an interesting point as we also want to track the results of our automated tests within TestLink. For one of our projects we are using Canoo WebTest.

So how did you realize the scheduling of automation runs and the logging of the execution results ? Did you upgrade TestLink itself or do you use an external tool that logs the results directly to the TestLink database ?

Actually the latter is the one we are currently thinking of ...
