TestLink database corrupt from previous updates?

Hello fellow TL'ers. I was wondering if anyone else has run into an issue where the database that TL uses gets corrupted with the available incremental updates. I'm currently running 1.9.19 but it has been updated since version 1.5 with the released updates.
I noticed an issue trying to assign a custom field created to a project and clicking the button 'Update active, required, monitorable' clears the checked columns. A new fresh install of 1.9.19 works well, another version doesn't (it's been updated since 1.5).
