Some menus not displayed?

Post by jmuir »

Hi every one,

I have been playing around with your TestLink system and must say that I like what I see so far. The clear and easy to understand concepts and user documentation make it a pleasure to work with. I however have have had a basic problem with the system from the very start, which is most likely pilot error.

When I login to the test system using the admin account I don\'t get the menus for \"Test Plan Management\" or \"Test Execution\" I created a product as you must when you first login. Am I missing some basic concept here for context sensitive menus? or should I be seeing all the menus. Does any one have any suggestion on what I may need to look at?

I used all the suggested software packages and the install seemed to complete with out a single problem. I can provide details if needed. I made a pass through the forum and did not see any related postings other than the mention of the \"Requirements\" menu being context sensitive.

Thanks for the help!
Regards,

Jerry

The menu depends on User Role, please check it

Yes, I actually created accounts for each role. Then logged in as a leader, but saw no Test Plan Menu. I have attached a summary of my install and set up procedure. Also a screen shot of what the leader account saw.

If you could please take a quick look, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jerry

click on the \"Create testsuite\" link and create a testsuite. give it some name (then you can add some tests to it- not required to see the menus). Once you do that, you should see all the other links on the home page. Unless you have a testplan created/access to it, you will see the right column..just like you see in your screenshot.

Ok, my newbee status is shining through. I will re-read all the documentation and play around some more and see if I can get these relationships figured out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Jmuir,

Verify two things: edit your product and verify if requirements functionality is available for this product.
Verify particular roles for rights in db. This problem happens if you updated from previous version only. Requirements functionality have two new access rights and these must be added to current roles. See sql script for a new installation.

Anu,
are you sure that you choose correct palce for your report?
