Adding attachments to a step during test-case execution

Hello everybody,

Since I just got access to the forum, this is now my first entry, so hello!

I'm responsible for quality assurance of a software product for which we in our company use test-link to ensure a good quality standard of the solution.

Amongst other topics I write test-cases and execute them as well.

My question is: During the execution of a test-case, per each step that is defined I see an option to add an attachment in form of a button.
When I click the button, a popup window opens and I can browse my local directories to search for the file which I want to attach, which is expected behavior and perfectly fine.

Now I select a file and add it.

The popup window closes and I see the filename of the file that I've chosen right besides the button in this step of the execution.

Once I've executed all steps of this test-case, I enter my results, the status, fill in custom fields and click on button "Save execution".

My question now is: Where is the attachment stored, that I have added, I'm not able to find it anywhere and I also don't get to see an error message that something went wrong resp. a bad configuration is in palce or something.

Besides of that, the function of adding attachments after the execution of the test-case in segment "Execution History" works fine,
but those attachments are stored to the test-case as a whole and are not related to a specific step.

Of course I can use a workaround and attach screenshots after the execution using this method and use the step they relate to in the filename
or write additional information in text form, that attachment XYZ belongs to a specific step
but I strongly think that when there's an option to add attachments to a specific step during the execution, it should also work and not be without function.

Any help in that regards is highly appreciated!

I've also had a look, if a thread for this issue is already available but I didn't really get a match, so I decided to create a new thread for this.

The version that we use is 1.9.13

attachment at test step level during execution can be accessed using the three cube icon => test step exec (print view).

Hello fman,

Thank you very much for your reply on my topic.

In my case, I see the same symbols as in your screenshot except the one you've mentioned (three cube icon), it's not there in my case,
neither when no attachment was added to one or several steps during execution, nor if there were attachments added.

Is there some kind of additional configuration needed in order to "activate" it, or should the icon always be there?
