Couple questions on import of test cases

We want to migrating from testlink 1.8.2 to testlink 1.9.2.

Decided to do a fresh install since our own system was full of a lot of old test plans and cases that we wanted to archive but not save.

I exported the test cases from old version, and then imported into new version. unfortunatley, the steps/results arent importing. Is there any way to get this to work? We dont need the test steps split apart, would be happen if imported test cases all appeares as single step/result.

If thats not possible, should we upgrade from 1.8.4 to 1.9.2?

Excel is not supported, This can be done through only XML, how ever a user posted how to import through Excel.
