Default Test Project and Plan

Does anybody know if it's possible to configure a default test project and test plan per user?
I know that a cookie is used to save the last used test plan (e.g. TL_lastTestPlanForUserID_1).
This setting is gone if the cookie is outdated.
It would be nice to have a configuration setting to save the defaults in the database.
In the TL database table 'users' a field 'default_testproject_id' exists, but it seems that it is not supported
in TL 1.9.
