export testsuite and import back with updates

Hi,

We have just started using Test Link in our org. I have searched the forum for the solution that I am looking for. It helped to partially solve the problem. looking for the remaining part.
I have gone through docs/utils/TestCaseXLSTOXML.xls and found it really useful to convert xls into xml. but, my problem is that when I have to make bulk updates to testsuite, I need to export it back, which is in xml and we need to convert it into excel which is not possible currently.
I have gone through excel2TestLink.pdf in docs folder, but this import from xml in xls brings up many internal xml tags with it and is not usable.

1. can anyone suggest the solution for this ?

2. Also, do we have util similar to one docs/utils/TestCaseXLSTOXML.xls for importing results from xls.

How I do that is that If I have to update or overwrite test cases use the same xls file which I used to generate the XML and import the test cases and while importing use the option to overwrite test cases if same tc found , just ensure the tc id are same on which u want to update the test cases

Thanks amit. If there are updates done on a testsuite by other QA members and if I want to export that testsuite and make the bulk changes, can that testsuite be converted to excel to make bulk changes ?

At least IMHO the idea can not be do go back and forth from XLS to XML, when you have choose a tool (TL, HPQC, ecc) you have to leave the excel and stick with the Tool GUI

Nope that is not possible . We follow the process of using xls to uPdate or add new test cases to TL
