How to: Upgrade from 1.8.1 to 1.8.2

Post by mukul »

Hi,

I've TestLink v1.8.1 installed on my Linux Debian system. How can I safely upgrade it to 1.8.2?
Are "config_db.inc.php" and "custom_config.inc.php" the only files I need to backup?

Thanks

I just upgraded from 1.8 RC4 to 1.8.2 successfully today. I didn't do much customization and haven't added much test suites, requirements, and test cases. That said, I renamed existing testlink dir to testlink.old, then unzip 1.8.2 to testlink dir, then replace the files with the ones that I modified like:

- config_db.inc.php
- custom_config.inc.php
- config.inc.php
- cfg/tl_fckeditor_config.js

Remember to copy your files in upload_area to 1.8.2 if there are any.

Monogeo is correct.

For us, though, we only had to backup the config_db.inc.php and config.inc.php files.
(we had no changes applied to his other two files)

I think too, that if you do a new extraction as Monogeo has done, that the proper permission might need to be reapplied to the \logs, \upload_area, and \gui\templates_c directories.

That should be no surprise, really.

Foregoing any web spiders, many search engines could have crossed your post simply based on the "Upgrade", "Linux", and "Debian" keywords of your original post -- all without having anything to do with TestLink.
