Can't upgrade from 1.7.3 -> 1.8.3

I can't finalize an upgrade from 1.7.3 -> 1.8.3.
Running http://<testlinkwebdir>/install/index.php is OK.
I have the install/upgrade selection window and select "Schema Upgrade".
Upgrade test are OK and and I am able to enter all logininformation.
License acceptance window is also displayed but when I ahve accepted the license, I have an error message wehn installnewdb.php is executed.
"File not found"

I have copied the config*.php files from my 1.7.3 backup into <testlinkwebdir> before I run the upgrade.

If I don't copy back my old files, the upgrade works OK.
But afterwards, I only have an empty login screen.

What is the problem?

don't do the upgrade. a few problems there.
you may do this:
1. backup your db of 1.7.3
2. fresh install a new 1.8.3
3. copy your 1.7.3 db.

I am not sure what you mean with item 2. "Copy your 1.7.3 db". Do you mena that I shall import data into the 1.8.3 database? Will that work with diffrent/new table layouts?

Good point. Well, sorry for one pre-step missed:

Pre: upgrade db
1. backup your db of 1.7.3
2. fresh install a new 1.8.3
3. copy your 1.7.3 db.

Sorry but nither me or omn really understands what weare suposed to do.

I mean our installation fails at installnewdb.php. We assume that is the actual DB-upgrade ?

Now you are suggestin we shall "Pre: upgrade db". to what? 1.8 I assume? But thats failing as described above

Then you we say we shall backup our 1.7.3 DB, which is already upgraded to 1.8 (?)

Actually I'm quite confused about this instruction and would b e very thankful for some more details.

I'm also facing same issue. I dont know the steps to be followed for manually upgrading the database to 1.8.5. Please help.

1. i took the db backup of 1.7.5
2. created new database for 1.8.5
3. imported 1.7.5 db backup.

After this i was not able to get the login page. it was empty. please help.
